I am Thinking of You

I am thinking of you, right now. I am thinking of you who cries yourself to sleep each night, you who turns your face away from the light when the sun comes up each morning because a new day brings too much sorrow. I am thinking of you whose spirit is crushed and who wonders at how the world could even continue to spin or people experience happiness in the midst of the heartbreak that overwhelms you. I am thinking of you who simply cannot go on and cannot move forward because “forward” is too painful and “forward” would cause you to leave behind something you cannot bear to let go of. I am thinking of you who knows nothing but despair and who cannot remember what joy feels like or what an unburdened smile is caused by. I am thinking of you who looks into a mirror and despises what you see because it implies life, but you have forgotten how to live. Oh, I am thinking of you right now.

I am sorry that I have nothing to give to you. I am sorry that I cannot give you peace or unburden your heart. I am sorry that you feel alone, and I cannot reach out a hand to comfort you. I wish I could do something for you, but I can only write you these words. I am sorry… and there IS hope. There IS a promise for tomorrow.

There is a tomorrow for you that is not completely darkened by sadness. There is a tomorrow for you that brings a sunrise that you will find beauty in. There is a tomorrow for you in which your heart, although changed, will no longer be broken. There is a tomorrow for you when you realize you ARE “forward” and you did not leave behind the important things. There is a tomorrow for you that does not hold despair but joy and one that will be full of the smiles you had once forgotten how to give. There is a tomorrow for you in which the image you see looking back at you in the mirror is a beautiful thing because it implies life, and you have remembered how to live. There is a tomorrow for you.

Tomorrow WILL come. You just need to hang on. You just need to hold out a little longer. Don’t give up! Don’t give in! Don’t give out! Tomorrow is right around the corner… It may even be TODAY!

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.                                                                                                                                                                -Psalm 147:3 (ESV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.                                                                                                                                         -Philippians 4:6,7 (ESV)

And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.                                                                                                                                            -Matthew 5:2-6 (ESV)

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord‘s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.                                                                                                                                                      -Isaiah 61:1-3 (ESV)
